EDUCATION AND BIOGRAPHY

Ren Behan is a British lawyer of Polish descent, she joined W Legal as a Consultant Partner in 2024 and brings with her a valuable variety of experience in family and matrimonial law. She regularly represents clients out of court, with negotiated settlements, and she is also an experienced court advocate. She is used to dealing with high conflict personalities. She encourages her clients to take a de-escalatory approach to resolving family issues.

Where a court application is necessary, for example, to set a timetable or where Judicial input may be required, she is skilled in issuing applications, and will advise carefully on strategy and approach and will attend court, if necessary. Ren also has experience in preparing for Private FDR’s which are growing in popularity as a means of settling matters swiftly and discretely away from Court.

Ren graduated from University College London in Contemporary Eastern European Studies, before obtaining her Graduate Diploma in Law and then completing her LPC at The University of Law, London. She holds a Certificate in Family Law and Practise from BPP Law School.

She qualified as a Solicitor in 2005, first into criminal defence and civil liberties, and then joining the CPS as a Crown Prosecutor, before later retaining into family law. She has worked as a family solicitor within two leading Tier One, Legal 500 firms, and now works as a Consultant Solicitor. She is a member of Resolution, formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association. She is passionate about legal reform, having worked both in the criminal and family court arenas. She is a mentor, and has worked with Career Returners UK. She encourages women to rejoin the profession and supports those from under-represented backgrounds to take a leap into law.

Ren is able to offer flexible appointments at a time that suits her clients and will tailor her offering to suit their needs. She puts client care at the heart of her practice. She will always set out an estimate of fees and is able to work efficiently to minimise costs.

Where disputes around children are involved, she takes a sensitive and holistic approach, working closely with family therapists and other professionals to achieve the best outcome.

Ren can advise on all areas of private Family Law, including:

  • Divorce and separation;
  • Financial negotiations;
  • Drafting financial consent orders;
  • Pension sharing implementation;
