Andrew Hougie has wide-ranging experience with exchanged traded products, investment trusts, closed-end investment companies, hedge funds, funds of funds and other collective investment funds, as well as with transactional and advisory work in funds, financial institutions, asset management and general corporate finance. He has more than 30 years’ experience advising funds, fund managers, brokers and corporates on matters including commodities-related structured products, the design, launch, take-over, merger, reorganisation and reconstruction of funds, and other matters.
Andrew co-authored a chapter for Hedge Funds and the Law published by Sweet & Maxwell in 2009, entitled Initial Public Offerings: Practice and Procedure for Hedge Fund Managers and Hedge Funds.
Andrew qualified as a solicitor in 1986 at Slaughter and May where he specialised in public (listed) company corporate work and financial services and investment funds. In 1996 he joined Clifford Chance and became a partner in its financial institutions group in 1999. Andrew joined Dechert LLP as a partner in its financial services group in 2005, joined ETF Securities (UK) Limited in 2016 and joined W Legal Limited in 2018.
